RuneScape Game Bar

The RuneScape Game Bar is a toolbar that can be installed for your web browser, which provides various RuneScape-related features, including an RSS feed of the latest news, information about your current Grand Exchange offers, notifications about Distractions & Diversions, reminders of when you can reuse rewards earned from completing Tasks, and useful links to the RuneScape website. Below is a short FAQ about the RuneScape Game Bar.

1. Where can I download the Game Bar?

You can download the RuneScape Game Bar here.

2. What features does it have?

The Runescape Game Bar is intended to make it easier for you to get into the game and to make other web-based tools we've put together over the years easier to find. There will also be a few gadgets to let you know when something's happened in-game that you might want to react to. These include things like information on your Grand Exchange offers, an RSS feed of news and blogs, reminders for repeatable content, a friends list, and quick links to the game and website features.

The repeatable content currently shown on the Game Bar is Tears of Guthix, Bork, Skeletal Horror, Thieves' Guild Hanky Points, Circus, Managing Miscellania and Phoenix Lair. There are also reminders for when you are next able to take advantage of any rewards you have earned from completing Tasks. These reminders include: when you can collect flax from Geoffrey, essence from Wizard Cromperty, fruit from Dell Monti, and sand from Bert; when Naff has more battlestaves in stock; when you can use the teleports on the Ardougne cloak or use your free lyre teleport; and how many spell casts you have left on your explorer's ring.

Each of these reminders will only appear on your Game Bar if your character has access to this content and if you have done them recently. Reminders about Task rewards will only appear on the Game Bar until you next log into the game. If you don't have access to any of this content, the reminder gadget will not appear on your Game Bar at all.

3. Will it be getting more features?

We hope to update the RuneScape Game Bar with new features in the future and we've already got a few planned (for instance, more repeatable content reminders). There are a few technical hurdles we'll need to deal with first, though, so we have decided to launch with those useful features that were easiest to get working. If you have any ideas for future RuneScape Game Bar features, please post them in the 'RuneScape Game Bar' thread in the the Recent Updates forum.

4. What browsers does it support?

The RuneScape Game Bar is supported by the latest versions of all major browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. If you find you have a browser that the Game Bar doesn't support, you may need to update your browser to the latest version.

5. Does it violate the rules on third-party software?

Rest assured that the RuneScape Game Bar is fully supported by us and 100% safe to use. We don't think it gives you an unfair advantage, although it will hopefully make it easier for you to keep track of your Grand Exchange offers.

6. How can I refresh my friends list to see who is ingame?

The friend list feature of the Game Bar shows which of your friends are currently online. It updates automatically every couple of minutes, but if you'd like to know who's online right now, click the 'Refresh Toolbar' button under the main menu.

7. I keep refreshing my Game Bar but I'm not seeing anything. What's happening?

If you make too many refresh requests in a short period of time, you'll be temporarily blocked to reduce load on our system. Please wait a while and the toolbar elements will update themselves when you're no longer blocked.

8. Why can't I use the Game Bar to see my friends who are playing Arcanists?

Currently, only players logged into RuneScape game worlds or lobbies will appear in a Game Bar's friends list.

9. What does the 'Get Grand Exchange Updates' button do?

The 'Get Grand Exchange Updates' takes you to an authorisation page (you will need to log in if you're not already) on which you can allow the RuneScape Game Bar to access information specific to your account. By default, this authorisation will only last for your current session, but you can check a box here to allow the RuneScape Game Bar access to your account for up to 14 days at a time. If you're using the Game Bar on a public computer, you MUST make sure to unauthorise this access when you're done, so as to keep your information secure. The 'unauthorise' option can be found in the drop-down menu next to the RuneScape logo on the Game Bar.

10. I'm already logged in, so why do I have to use the 'Get Grand Exchange Updates' button?

For security reasons, the RuneScape Game Bar uses a different authentication system from the RuneScape website. Basically, this means that we don't let the Game Bar interact with your website session and it isn't allowed to automatically sign you into the website or game.

11. Why isn't something I've done in-game appearing on the Game Bar?

There are two possible causes of this. Firstly, your save data only gets updated on our systems once you log out (or are logged out) of the game, so if you've not logged out since doing something in the game that is shown on the Game Bar, then the Game Bar will not update with that information until you log out of the game. Secondly, the Game Bar only updates repeatable content information every half hour or so, so it may still take a little while to update once you do log out of the game.

12. Why doesn't the Game Bar show the Grand Exchange offer I've just made?

To keep stress on the servers down we've restricted the frequency of how often the Game Bar updates. Give it time and your offers will eventually be updated. Currently, the delay for Grand Exchange information is approximately ten minutes, but we may modify this depending on how much traffic the Game Bar generates.

13. Why are some of my completed Grand Exchange offers not showing?

Completed Grand Exchange offers are only displayed on the RuneScape Game Bar while you are not logged into the game. When you next log in (or if you happened to be logged in when the offer completed) any completed offers will be removed from the Game Bar, however, this may take up to ten minutes due to how frequently the Game Bars is updated (see question 8). When an offer is considered to be complete it is deleted from the Game Bar, however, you may see completed offers in the Game Bar until you next log into RuneScape and the Game Bar information updates.

14. How do I stop the RuneScape search bar showing in new browser tabs?

If you don't want the RuneScape search bar to appear when you open new tabs in your browser, take the following steps:
-Click the down arrow next to the RuneScape logo on the Game Bar
-Choose 'Game Bar options'
-Go to the 'Additional Settings' tab
-Uncheck the 'Show a search box on new browser tabs' option
