Introducing Josh, our new Project Director
We're pleased to officially welcome Mod Josh as the project owner of 2011Scape. He will be joining the project's leadership and takes on the role of Project Director, with responsibility for operations, community direction, and the long-term roadmap.
This change reflects what we want 2011Scape to grow into: a properly stewarded, long-running preservation project. Greg and the development team continue to lead all technical work, while Josh focuses on the things that keep a project like this healthy, including structure, planning, and partnerships.
Our core promises remain unchanged:
- Free to play, always
- Open source, always
- Non-commercial: no donations, no premium, no monetisation, ever
The new website is live
https://2011.rs/ is officially live. You can now:
- Create and manage your account
- Browse the item database, world map, and over 1,200 knowledge-base articles
- Check the hiscores
- Read the dev blog and use the forums (which now sign in with your in-game account)
Take a look around and let us know what you think.
Final account migration: Legacy 2011 ➜ Void
As we consolidate fully onto Void, we'll be running one last account migration from the legacy 2011 game server. After this migration completes, the legacy server will be retired, and all future development, updates, and content will live on Void.
Make sure to cash in your loyalty points for rares prior to the migration, as these points will not carry over. However, there may be opportunities to earn these rewards in future holiday events.
If you have progress on the legacy server you want carried across, make sure your account is up to date before the cutoff (June 1st).
Roadmap incoming
Pixel, Greg, and Josh are working together on updating the development roadmap, covering everything we have planned, including upcoming features, content, and quality-of-life updates.
Thanks to everyone who has stuck with the project. Big things ahead, and we're glad you're along for it.
The 2011Scape Team
